What are the benefits of installing hurricane impact windows?

Hurricane impact windows provide storm protection by meeting strict codes such as Miami-Dade standards, defending homes from wind-borne debris and extreme pressure during hurricanes. Additional benefits include improved security through laminated impact glass that deters break-ins, noise reduction, improved indoor comfort by reducing heat transfer, and year-round protection without the need to install shutters before each storm.

How much do hurricane windows cost on average?

The cost of hurricane impact windows depends on the size and style of windows, the number of openings, and the specifics of the installation. An accurate number requires an in-home consultation and quote. Max Guard offers 0% financing with $0 payments until 2027, separating installation from payment so homeowners can get protection now without immediate budget impact.

Are hurricane impact windows worth the cost?

For South Florida homeowners, hurricane impact windows are widely considered a worthwhile long-term investment. They protect a home's structure and interior by maintaining the building envelope during a storm, provide always-on protection without manual installation before each hurricane, reduce noise and heat gain for day-to-day comfort, and can contribute to better perceived property value and in some cases insurance savings depending on the insurer and policy.

Can impact windows withstand a Category 5 hurricane?

Impact windows are tested and rated by design pressures and building codes, not hurricane category numbers. Windows that meet Miami-Dade County standards are designed to withstand very high wind loads and impact conditions typical of major hurricanes when properly installed. Miami-Dade certification is one of the strictest impact-resistance standards in the United States.

Do impact windows lower homeowners insurance in Florida?

Many Florida insurers offer potential discounts for homes with approved wind-mitigation features, which may include hurricane impact windows and doors. Actual savings depend on the insurance company and policy. Homeowners should check directly with their insurer after installation to verify available discounts.

Credentials, Authority, and Partnerships

Which brands and manufacturers does Max Guard use in its projects? To ensure the maximum standard of protection and efficiency in the market, Max Guard partners only with industry-leading manufacturers. We proudly hold Elite Status with renowned brands such as Andersen Windows and Pella, allowing us to offer exclusive, superior-engineered product lines alongside premium factory-direct warranties. How can I ensure the technical quality and reputation of Max Guard?Max Guard’s reliability is backed by national recognition and strict market validations. We were honored with the Best of the Best National Award, reaching the prestigious #214 national ranking among the top residential service companies in the United States. Additionally, we hold the rigorous Disney Verification for high-standard commercial services, which attests to our operational excellence, safety, and technical compliance.Do Max Guard products meet the state’s strictest building codes?Yes. All of our impact windows and doors are rigorously tested and engineered to exceed the most demanding building codes of Miami-Dade County, which maintains the strictest standard in the world for hurricane resistance. Our products undergo Large Missile Impact Testing and Design Pressure Testing, simulating winds up to 200 mph.

Products, Materials, and Customization

Are your products made in America?Absolutely! At Max Guard Hurricane Windows & Doors, we take pride in our commitment to providing our customers with 100% American-made products manufactured in the United States. To learn more about the manufacturers we’re partnered with, contact us today. What is the difference between Aluminum, Vinyl, and Hybrid frames?Aluminum: Offers maximum structural strength and durability, making it ideal for large openings and high wind pressure.Vinyl: Excellent thermal insulator, does not corrode (essential for coastal properties), and requires very low maintenance.Hybrid: The best of both worlds, combining the structural strength of aluminum on the interior with the thermal and weather resistance of vinyl on the exterior face. Max Guard helps you choose the ideal material based on your location and facade needs.Do you offer impact doors or only windows? We offer a complete line of impact doors engineered for both security and thermal efficiency. Our catalog includes residential entry doors, sliding glass doors, and French doors. All feature advanced security locks, reinforced profiles, and heavy-duty weather stripping, maintaining the exact same hurricane-resistance standards as our windows. What does “Design Pressure” (DP) mean, and how does it affect my choice?Design Pressure (DP) measures the wind load force that a window or door can withstand (expressed in pounds per square foot or PSF). In Florida, DP requirements vary: inland homes might require a DP 35, while coastal properties frequently need a DP 60 or higher. Max Guard specialists calculate the exact DP needed for your residence, cross-referencing geographic data, structural height, and coastal proximity to ensure total compliance with local engineering codes.Do impact windows help with soundproofing?Yes, significantly. Due to the thickness of the double-laminated glass and the air or gas chamber present in Max Guard’s high-efficiency glass packages, our windows and doors drastically reduce outdoor noise pollution (such as traffic, lawnmowers, barking dogs, and storms), providing a much quieter and more comfortable indoor environment.

Energy Efficiency and Financial Benefits

Do Max Guard impact windows reduce electricity bills?Yes. Our products are Energy Star certified and feature efficient glass packages designed to combat Florida’s intense heat. They control Solar Heat Gain and prevent air conditioning leaks. By blocking heat entry and UV rays, your home’s HVAC system works less, resulting in substantial savings on monthly utility bills. Can installing impact windows lower my homeowner’s insurance premium?Absolutely. Because Max Guard impact windows and doors exceed Miami-Dade building codes, they lower the risk of catastrophic storm damage. Most insurance companies operating in Florida offer mandatory discounts or significant premium reductions (credits for wind mitigation) to homeowners who secure all property openings with impact-rated products. Are there financing options available for this type of renovation?Yes, we understand that protecting your home is a major investment. Max Guard offers flexible financing options to make window and door replacement accessible, allowing you to spread the cost into comfortable monthly payments that fit your household budget. Speak with one of our consultants to review active plans.

Warranty, Installation, and Maintenance

Does Max Guard offer a warranty on products and installation services?Yes, we understand that protecting your home is a major investment. Max Guard offers flexible financing options to make window and door replacement accessible, allowing you to spread the cost into comfortable monthly payments that fit your household budget. Speak with one of our consultants to review active plans. How long does the impact window installation process take? The physical installation inside the home typically takes 1 to 3 business days, depending on the number of windows and doors in the project. However, the comprehensive process includes vital prior steps: precision technical measurements, custom manufacturing, and securing building permits from your local municipality to guarantee full legal and structural compliance. How should I clean and maintain my impact windows?Maintenance is simple but requires care to preserve the materials. We recommend rinsing the windows with a low-pressure hose to remove dust and salt spray (avoid high-pressure washers). Use a soft microfiber cloth or rubber squeegee with mild soap or non-abrasive glass cleaners. Never use rough paper towels, harsh chemicals, or steel wool, as they can scratch the glass or damage the protective profile finishes.Where is Max Guard located, and which regions do you serve? Our corporate headquarters and main showroom are located at 2253 Vista Parkway, Suite 12, West Palm Beach, FL 33411. We currently serve Brevard, Indian River, St. Lucie, Martin, Palm Beach, and Broward counties. You can schedule a guided tour of our showroom or request a free consultation at your home.

General Security and Other Benefits

Besides hurricanes, do impact windows protect against break-ins and burglaries?Yes, this is one of the greatest secondary advantages. Standard builder-grade windows are easy targets for intruders. The laminated glass in Max Guard impact windows is virtually impenetrable against common hand tools like crowbars, hammers, and even sledgehammers. Even if the glass is repeatedly struck and cracks, the inner interlayer keeps the physical barrier intact, discouraging and preventing home invasions.Do UV rays damage furniture and flooring? Do impact windows prevent this?Yes. Intense Florida sunlight emits ultraviolet (UV) rays that fade sofa fabrics, damage rugs, artwork, and ruin wood or vinyl flooring over time. Max Guard’s technological glass packages block up to 99% of harmful UV rays, allowing healthy natural light to enter without compromising the integrity and color of your home’s interior decor. What is the “Large Missile Test” that impacts windows pass?It is the official regulatory approval test required by law in Florida. It involves mechanically firing a piece of lumber (a 9-pound 2×4 stud) at a velocity of 50 feet per second (around 35 mph) directly at the center and corners of the window. To be approved and sold by Max Guard, the glass may break externally, but no part of the missile can pierce the inner barrier or create gaps in the sealing system. How does the initial consultation with Max Guard work?We offer a 100% Free In-Home Estimate. One of our home protection specialists will visit your house or welcome you to our showroom to evaluate your current setup, take preliminary measurements, explain the engineering advantages of top brands like Andersen and Pella, and provide a transparent, detailed quote with no purchase obligation. What impact does replacing regular windows with impact windows have on property value? The South Florida real estate market immensely values properties that are already fully prepared for hurricane season. By installing premium products from Max Guard (a Top 214-ranked company nationwide), the investment is almost entirely recovered in the property’s equity and resale value. Local buyers prefer to pay a premium for move-in-ready homes that offer immediate safety, lower energy bills, and reduced insurance rates. Why choose Max Guard over other window companies? The answer lies in the combination of engineering authority, national recognition, and client care. While many companies operate generically, Max Guard has over 30 years of specialized experience in Florida, carries the distinction of being a Top 214 US company, holds Elite Status with Andersen and Pella, and maintains the demanding Disney Verification. Furthermore, we offer a true Lifetime Warranty on both materials and labor, ensuring complete legal and physical protection for your most valuable asset.

Regulations, Government Funding, and Logistics

I live in a community with an HOA (Homeowners Association). Does Max Guard help with approvals?Yes. We know that Homeowners Associations (HOAs) in Florida have strict rules regarding the aesthetic uniformity of facades, the colors of aluminum or vinyl profiles, and even the type of grilles. As a company ranked in the national Top 214, Max Guard provides all the technical documentation required by your HOA’s architectural committee, including product specification sheets (Andersen/Pella), signed engineering drawings, and state compliance certificates, streamlining your approval process without any headaches. What is the My Safe Florida Home program, and are Max Guard windows eligible for it?The My Safe Florida Home program is a state initiative that offers grants and tax exemption incentives to help Florida homeowners strengthen their homes against hurricanes. Our impact-rated windows and doors are perfectly qualified for the wind mitigation improvements required by the program. Since Max Guard products exceed Miami-Dade standards, by choosing us as your certified contractor, you maximize your chances of receiving the state’s financial return and passing the final inspection.

Outdoor Living Solutions

What is the difference between a traditional screen enclosure and a glass patio/porch enclosure?A traditional screen enclosure only filters out insects and debris, leaving your outdoor space fully exposed to Florida’s intense heat, humidity, and rain. A glass porch enclosure, however, encloses the space using high-efficiency impact glass panels. This transforms your porch or patio into a fully climate-controlled, year-round extension of your home that is storm-proof, soundproof, and significantly adds to your property’s overall square footage and value.Do Max Guard’s patio enclosures and porch systems withstand hurricanes?Yes, absolutely. Unlike generic aluminum covers that often buckle or tear away during high winds, Max Guard’s patio enclosures are custom-engineered with heavy-duty structural aluminum framing and certified impact-resistant laminated glass. These systems are meticulously designed to meet and exceed the stringent Miami-Dade County wind-load requirements, ensuring your outdoor living space stays secure during severe weather events.Do I need a building permit to install a pergola or enclose a porch in Florida?Yes. Across our service areas—including Brevard, Indian River, St. Lucie, Martin, Palm Beach, and Broward counties—any permanent outdoor structure or patio enclosure requires official engineering approval and a local municipal building permit. Max Guard handles this entire process end-to-end. Our team drafts the necessary engineering plans, submits them to your local building department, and secures the permits to guarantee your project is 100% legal, up to code, and compliant with wind-zone restrictions.Do Max Guard pergolas provide actual protection against the sun and rain, or are they just decorative? Our premium aluminum pergolas combine modern architectural aesthetics with advanced functionality. We offer bioclimatic, motorized louvered pergolas that allow you to adjust the slats with precision to control sunlight and shade. When completely closed, the interlocking louvers create a watertight seal, effectively protecting your patio furniture from heavy rain. Built from high-grade aluminum with specialized coastal finishes, they will never rust or warp under the Florida sun.Can I integrate impact sliding glass doors into my patio enclosure?Definitely, this is one of our most popular and sophisticated configurations. When enclosing a porch or patio, we can seamlessly integrate large-span impact sliding glass doors or multi-slide configurations. Utilizing our Elite Status with top-tier brands like Andersen and Pella, we can create stunning indoor-outdoor transitions that offer effortless operation, absolute watertight sealing, and the highest level of security against both forced entry and major hurricanes.
